Salmon and Ball - Bethnal Green

The first thing that came with this pub is the reviews that I saw on TripAdvisor when I was en route. If you happen to take a look you'll notice a trend - the girls hate it, the blokes worship it.

It's little wonder.

I stepped inside from the January cold to the thump of an old bluesy number, blasting out the speakers and bouncing off the walls which were cream coloured with wooden panels of British racing green.

This is definitely a mans pub, as there was nothing but men all sat around the D shaped bar which is smack in the middle of the pub like the nucleus of a cell.

Tradesman flock to the bar and drink deeply from their hard earned pints and shout to be heard above the music and the other shouting. Any guy who's even the slightest bit metro is going to be leaving the pub on his arse as soon as they spot your eyeliner.

If you drink here your chat IS going to be who's right for the England job or how the wife always runs the hoover round the bloody television when the scores are being read out.

Your chat ISN'T likely to be which supermarket does the best bag of read washed mixed leaf salad.

I must say I really like this place and so will your missus - because there's bugger all chance you're going to be pulling a bird here. It's a blokes pub and I'd describe the type of men as the "heavy artillery" kind.

So if anything she'll probably sub you a tenner from your "joint account" (which is actually your account) to go out and have a few with your mates.
