Tommy Flynn's - Holloway Road

As the name would suggest, this one is an Irish pub. Now when we think of Irish pubs we tend to think that the place is going to be rammed with a load of plastic paddys drunk on cheap booze and essentially, this place is exactly that.
So it was a Friday that we were there, and therefore bound to have a load of punters all flocking to the Flynn. I don't want you thinking that Tommy Flynn's is a place where you'd struggle to find enough space to lift that glass of thirst quenching liquid to your lips.
No no, this is a big enough pub if you're after a quiet one but all of the action is around the bar and it's the best place to be if you like a bit of people watching. You'll see people of all age groups, ranging from groups of young men to the inevitable old geezer with the waxed pompadour, steadying himself against the wall and desperately trying not to spill any of his Guinness.
Flynn's has a good range of beers to choose from and of course as Flynn's is an Irish pub, it's worth sinking a Guinness or two - it's no doubt the most popular wet, the lines are crisp and the temperature is spot on. However if you're unlike me and prefer your stout a few degrees further south, then worry not - you Extra Cold enthusiasts have been thought of as well.
You wouldn't expect to break the bank at an Irish pub and here and you won't be disappointed - two pints would cost you around £7.80, but prices are not the highlight of this pub. It's actually the fact that Flynn's is the venue for a few wandering traders who sell dodgy goods. The first we encountered was when I was stopped on my way back from the gents by a man wearing a cap with SWAG written on it and pulling one of those escort shopping trolleys that you see the old biddies pulling about on their way to the bus stop, selling various bottles of spirits and a naughty white powder that the yuppies sniff.
Another was this charming little Asian woman selling pirated DVDs for £2, we went for David Brent's Life on the Road, not really expecting to work - but the quality was actually immaculate! Shame the film is utter tripe.
